Features
LaB6 single crystals are a material with excellent electron emission properties and high heat resistance.
Compared to tungsten filaments, they are said to have 10 times the brightness and a lifespan 10 to 15 times longer. They also have a low work function.
LaB6 single crystals are primarily used as electron sources for electron microscopes and in electron beam lithography, but research into their use in space-related fields has also been progressing recently.
